What made you who you are today? If you were given a helping hand when you were young, then you will know how important that moment in a young person’s life can be. Being offered a safe place to go, encouragement, and the chance to learn new skills and take part in activities we feel passionate about can transform a young person’s life and their long-term prospects.

We have an exciting opportunity for new Trustees to join the UK Youth Board responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the Charity. We are looking for people from all walks of life who can demonstrate a genuine passion for empowering young people, coupled with high levels of integrity. We are especially looking for people who have professional or lived experience and expertise in any of the following areas:

  • Governance
  • HR
  • Working in the youth sector
  • Finance
  • Education
  • Policy development and implementation
  • Fundraising
  • Digital
  • Innovation

We are particularly interested in receiving applications from young candidates (e.g., young people aged 18-25) who are benefitting from or have benefited from youth work.

We’ve helped over 90,000 young people to start their own business – and you could be next. We work with 18 to 30-year-olds living in the UK to turn big ideas into a reality. Get in touch to sign up today.

Stage 1: Info session

Our programme kicks off with a free information session in your local area. We’ll tell you how we can support you and, if you’re still keen, we’ll also invite you onto our interactive workshop.

Stage 2: Workshop

During your workshop you’ll get to meet like-minded people. You’ll also have the chance to tap into a business adviser, covering everything from business planning and marketing to sales, budgeting and tax. Workshops vary in length but average between two and four days.

Stage 3: Build your business

After the workshop it’s time to start building your business. We’ll provide you with a mentor to support you as you plan and test your ideas. You’ll even have the opportunity to apply for personal loans for business purposes.

Stage 4: Launch

Before launch, you’ll present your business plan to our Business Launch Group. Their job is to ensure your idea is viable and sustainable. Don’t worry, there are no dragons here. It’s designed to be a positive experience for you – and to ensure there are no weak points in your plan. There’s also additional start-up finance support if you need it. You can find out how this works here.
